Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look at Pause Dream Enjoy and what they have going on this week! The theme for this linky party is {KIDS}! I can’t wait to check it out for myself, but first, here’s our project for the week!

I have very fond memories of Valentine’s Day when I was in grade school.  We decorated boxes to collect our cards in with glitter, lace and bows.  I’m sure I was just glowing with pride when I walked into class that morning with my creation.  But the boys in my class, not so much.  If their box had any sparkle to it, it was because they wrapped it in aluminum foil.  And so begins the challenge of creating valentines for my grandsons to give to their classmates.

I went straight to the Silhouette Online Store for inspiration, they must have a zillion designs to choose from.  As soon as I spotted this Pirate Boy I knew he would be perfect.  I used a combination of the above 3 files to create my  Pirate Valentine Treat Bags.  I did opt not to use the skulls since this holiday is all about {LOVE}, but you can technically add it in there if you have an especially boyish boy. The bag topper is a one piece {PRINT N CUT} with a perforated line in the center to fold it in half.  I also used the {PRINT N CUT} for the boy but cut him out separately so I could pop him up with foam squares.  I created the text myself using two different fonts:

“Ahoy Valentine” is in Ravie

“You’re a Treasure” is ChunkFive Ex.

Since I was using candy kisses in my treat bags I used some of the elements from the files to create stickers to place on the bottoms.  I had some Silhouette printable white sticker paper and this turned out to be a fun way to get the boys involved.  Once I designed the 3/4″ round labels, printed them and did a “kiss cut” on the Silhouette the boys had a great time attaching them to the candy and filling the bags.

I love all things Pirate, but this is especially fabulous. I love the topper, the little pirate, and the round stickers you and the boys made. What fun! They will be a HUGE hit with the friends.
